History & Information:
The Noble County Public Library began in May of 1914 in the town of Albion with a petition filed with the County Clerk having 75 names. In June of that year Jefferson and York townships were invited to join and a tax levy was established. The library officially opened as the Albion Library in September in the law office of Judge Luke Wrigley. Later that year the library moved to the Alvord building and then again to over the Albion National Bank. Carnegie library was finally built in 1918. In 1940 the Albion Library became the Albion Noble County Library serving 10 townships. In 1965 the name of the library was changed to the Noble County Public Library. A new main library was built in Albion in 1995 at its current location. In 2005/2006 this library was renovated to finish its lower level adding much needed meeting space. The current library provides about 25,000 square feet of usable space.
